Gold settled at 4170.1 on 2026-10-15, up 1.51% on the session but still down 5.22% over 20 sessions, leaving price at the 23rd percentile of the 4091.2–4439.8 20-day channel — a deep pullback within an intact 52-week range of 3901.3–5586.

The 2026-10-14 washout low of 4095 held above the 20-day channel floor of 4091.2, and the 2026-10-15 recovery reclaimed the 4169.27 R1 pivot; early Asian trade on 2026-10-16 at 07:00 extended to 4185.28 (+0.36% vs settle). Fundamentals support the bid: COMEX registered inventory fell 1.13% d/d to 14.88 Moz as of 2026-10-13, GLD holdings rose 0.65% over 20 sessions, and the 10-year yield eased to 5.09% with DXY at 102 on 2026-10-15. Positioning is the main caveat: managed-money net length sits at the 91st percentile of its 3-year range even after four weeks of liquidation. A daily close below 4132.13 invalidates the long and exposes 4070.77; a break above 4169.27 targets 4230.63, roughly 0.7×ATR beyond.
